CBD & Multiple Sclerosis, the Next Big Thing?

Dizziness. Nausea. Constant pain. Issues that no one should have to live with. Unfortunately, many suffering from Multiple sclerosis describe those symptoms and more as common daily occurrences. Multiple sclerosis is a disabling disease of the spinal cord & brain. It disrupts the flow of signals between the brain & body. As a result, permanent nerve damage & deterioration often occurs. There is no cure for the estimated 2.3 million sufferers and few treatments available to help manage symptoms. This frequently leaves them at the mercy of this debilitating condition. Consequently, many people with MS are now turning to alternative therapies & treatment options. Cannabidiol (CBD) is on the forefront. CBD & Multiple sclerosis may be the next big thing.

CBD is thought to hold therapeutic qualities such anti-nausea & anti-inflammation. Pain relief and more. Thus, CBD acts on your body’s endocannabinoid system. It is a network of receptors found in the central & peripheral nervous systems. Brain, immune cells, fat, and muscle that interact with receptors found in cannabinoids.  Let us explain how CBD & Multiple sclerosis may go hand in hand.

Research suggests that the endocannabinoid system regulates nausea & dizziness in humans. Chemotherapy patients have been relying on cannabinoids for some time. Especially CBD, to fight such symptoms. So, those dealing with Multiple sclerosis have done the same. In a web-based survey done by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 66% of those with MS said they currently rely on cannabinoids for treatment.

One in particular, Anne. She has also implemented CBD in her wellness routine. To fight feelings of nausea and dizziness caused by MS.

Anne’s Testimonial

She notes, “I was diagnosed with RRMS (Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis) 20 years ago. Over the last few years, I have developed dizziness, nausea, and issues with my balance. Berkeley Gold CBD oil has really helped me in managing some of my symptoms. Many mornings I wake up feeling dizzy and nauseous. Therefore, I can take the Berkeley Gold CBD oil and within 20 minutes or so, I am feeling better!

CBD has helped balance Anne’s endocannabinoid system. Allowing her to better manage her symptoms. This natural, plant-derived alternative is doing wonders for her quality of life! She continues, “Berkeley Gold CBD oil has changed by life. I am incredibly grateful.”

Final Thoughts

Further studies are certainly needed to evaluate CBD in Multiple sclerosis treatment. But, the reported therapeutic uses appear to be promising. Thus, the medical community has shown as increased interest in CBD. Therefore, we are hopeful their findings will uncover future treatment benefits. Not only for Multiple sclerosis, but other diseases. Wellness, naturally.

Why We Love CBD

Up to this point, the previous Fields of Gold articles have outlined many CBD related topics… what it is, how it works, it’s history, etc… That being said, this post will directly highlight some of the reported benefits users are experiencing. Before we do that, let’s recap some main points about CBD. Cannabidiol is one of the key naturally occurring cannabinoids founds in the stocks, flowers, and seeds of the cannabis plant. Remember, the cannabis plant has two main species, hemp and marijuana. Hemp has a much higher percentage of CBD, but less than .3% THC. Marijuana typically has low levels of CBD and a high percentage of THC. Therefore, CBD extracted from hemp lacks the intoxicating and psychoactive properties associated with the “high” of marijuana.

CBD acts on your body’s endocannabinoid system, a network of receptors found in the central & peripheral nervous systems, brain, immune cells, fat, and muscle that interact with receptors found in cannabinoids. Depending on desired result, there are various ways to take CBD.  Oil tinctures, nano-gels, gummies and dissolvable tablets can be taken orally. CBD can also be infused with topicals such as gels, creams or salves. As a result, many people seeking natural alternatives to pharmaceuticals have turned to CBD for holistic relief.

Users report a multitude of benefits from its use including immune system support, regulating inflammation, pain relief, lessened stress/anxiety, combating insomnia, seizure treatment, etc… Others add CBD to their daily wellness routine to enhance their overall sense of  well-being. While people have mentioned countless benefits from taking CBD, we’ll go over a few of the main ones.

Inflammation/Pain Relief

The immune system relies heavily on a properly functioning endocannabinoid system. The CB1 and CB2 receptors present in your immune cells are directly affected by phytocannabinoids such as CBD! Thus, many believe CBD helps regulate and support a healthy immune system by helping fight off foreign invaders & potentially life-threatening viruses.

Inflammation is your body’s natural response to injury or infection. It’s a signal for your cells to heal a wound or protect against illness or disease. Unfortunately, your immune system can malfunction, leading to chronic aches and pains. This can be detrimental to your health, leading to numerous degenerative diseases such as arthritis, cancer, asthma, etc…Fortunately, people are reporting positive results with CBD’s ability to provide holistic relief for chronic inflammation. Although all forms of CBD can be taken to combat these issues, many apply CBD Relief Cream and CBD Freeze Relief to help with localized pain and are seeing phenomenal results.

Piggybacking on CBD’s use for chronic inflammation, people are using CBD for both general pain relief and spot specific pain relief.  Like previously mentioned, CBD is believed to act on the body’s CB2 receptor, directly controlling pain. Whether for sore muscles, achy joints, or tension headaches, users are touting CBD as a natural remedy to help combat these issues.

Anxiety/Stress Relief

It’s safe to say a majority of us are affected by stress & anxiety. Whether family issues, difficulties with your boss, or the overall daily grind, stresses and anxiety seem to be par for the course. While stress and anxiety share many physical and emotional symptoms, there’s a distinction between the two.  Stress is what your body produces in response to an alarming event, anxiety is your reaction to that stress. Fortunately, CBD is thought to help with both as many are turning to this holistic remedy to help calm their minds and allow them to live their best lives. Tinctures & fast-acting Dissolvable Tablets are fan favorites!

Combat Insomnia

Similar to how CBD helps individuals with stress & anxiety, many are using it to help them fight sleep related issues. Users are raving about CBD in battling insomnia, especially when combined with melatonin. Melatonin is a hormone naturally produced inside the pineal gland, found just about the middle of your brain. This hormone helps control your internal clock, letting your body know when it’s time to sleep and wake up. CBD Nano-gels w/Melatonin are an efficient and effective method of delivery to help ease a restless mind, allowing people to get the adequate sleep they need to be productive.

Seizure Treatment

The 2018 FDA approval of Epidiolex was a milestone the medical community. Epidiolex, with its active ingredient being CBD, is used in the treatment of seizures and two distinct pediatric diseases. While many people were turning to CBD to help treat seizures, most notably Charlotte Figi, it’s worth noting that approval of Epidiolex was based on sufficient and properly-controlled clinical studies, implying confidence in the drug’s safety and effectiveness for its specified use. The pharmaceutical treatment of various diseases and conditions will not come without the backed medical standards that are afforded with clinical trials and blind studies.

Final Thoughts

The benefits users are seeing from adding CBD to their daily regimens have been nothing short of amazing. While further studies are certainly necessary, the testimonials and report benefits cannot be overlooked. Adding a holistic, natural remedy to people’s daily wellness routines has become a staple.

Turn Self-Isolation into Self-Motivation

With sporting events postponed, in-house restaurant dining closed, schools shut down, & large crowds  prohibited….staying at home is pretty much mandatory. Self-isolation is the only way to protect yourself and others from contracting COVID-19, and it’s crucial to help “flatten the curve” so we can get through this sooner rather than later. On the other hand, quarantining will undoubtedly lead to stir craziness and boredom at times. Sure, there’s plenty of ways we can keep ourselves busy…but what are the healthy, fulfilling ways to help get us through these times? We’ve put together a list of options and strategies to keep your quarantined time both stimulating and possibly even productive.

It’s very easy to slack and let yourself succumb to that meat lovers pizza or those rocky road ice cream cravings. While a little self-indulgence is never a bad thing, it’s important to try and keep healthy food options available. As hard as it may seem, getting in those fresh fruits & veggies or lean protein sources are crucial to helping maintain an overall sense of health & well-being.  Let’s also not forget to support your local restaurants, so order that Chopped Thai Salad for take-out, and let yourself splurge on that New York Style Cheesecake from your favorite bakery every so often.  Remember, it’s all about moderation.

Being cooped up for hours at a time is never pleasant. Fortunately, the spring weather is among us (for the majority of the country) so make sure you take advantage. Go for a stroll, hop on a bike, knock out those crunches, meditate….all outdoors. Physical activity is a great way to help take away some of the tension and anxiety built up being indoors. Take this opportunity to appreciate the sites, smells, and noises of mother nature. Research shows that time spent in the great-outdoors helps increase energy, boosts your immune system, enhances creativity and lessens anxiety, among other things. It’s good for the body, mind, & soul!

Every year, a majority of us make New Year’s Resolutions, wanting to spark positive change. Whether it’s to exercise more, learn a new skill or hobby, limit alcohol consumption or to read more…most of us fall short after the “New year, new me” buzz wears off. There’s no better time to reignite the aspirations you set for yourself months ago. Envision your end objective, set small daily goals, take it one day at a time, and give it another chance…a sense of accomplishment is such a rewarding feeling!

Ugh, that guest bedroom closet or kitchen cabinet filled to the brim that hasn’t been opened it years. Up until now, you’ve come up with every excuse in the book to avoid cleaning it. It’s been nagging you in the back of your mind, giving you low level anxiety since you know it has to be done. Well, the opportunity is present! There’s no greater feeling than a clean, tidy house. Take the time go rid yourself of useless items that are simply taking up space and causing you stress. An old wise man once said, a clean living quarters breeds a clear mind. Do something now that your future self will thank you for later.

There’s no more opportune time for self-reflection than now. A majority of us have plenty of time on our hands, use this chance to evaluate and better yourself. But, be kind…beating yourself up over past hiccups or mistakes provides no value. Instead, strive for self-improvement. How can you be a better friend, business partner, significant other, parent, son or daughter? Have you been living up to the moral compass you set for yourself? These all are thoughts that run through our minds daily , but are almost always shut out because they’re uncomfortable and difficult to face head on. Remember, nothing gets solved overnight, but baby steps in the right direction will ultimately help you be the person you want to be.

In uncertain times like these, many fall victim to the circumstances. Of course, it’s always easier said than done…but it’s important to maintain an optimistic mindset. True positivity isn’t blindly ignoring issues or being overly cliche when negative situations arise. It’s more than simply “thinking happy thoughts” or forcing a fake smile. Instead, real optimism is the mindset of accepting uncontrollable circumstances and working towards a plausible solution, rather than dwelling on the issue at hand. It’s a mental attitude that reflects belief, hope, and a favorable outcome. Being positive is a daily challenge that no one ever said would be easy. It requires effort and attention, but the results of a ‘glass half full’ mentality will astound you. Not to mention, positive thinking has been thought to increase life span, boost immunity, strengthen cardiovascular health, and improve wellbeing. Like the late great Bob Marley said, “Don’t Worry Be Happy”

Last, but certainly not least…don’t forget your CBD! Berkeley Gold CBD is a staple item in a balanced, healthy lifestyle. As a much needed component in your daily regimen, CBD helps regulate your endocannabinoid system, which controls a range of body functions including stress, anxiety, immunity, inflammation, etc… Whether it’s high quality tinctures, fast-acting dissolvable tablets, mouth-watering gummies or refreshing topicals…there’s a delivery method to suit any and all needs.

By staying home, you’re helping both yourself and your community. COVID-19 is extremely serious and we need to treat it as such.  Self-isolation is never easy, but there are healthy ways to get through. Let’s take this time to dive into tasks or thoughts that we’d overwise be too busy for. Instead of vegging out, waiting for time to pass, we should flip on the productivity switch and emerge from this situation better & healthier versions of ourselves.

How is Berkeley Gold Responding to Covid-19?

At Berkeley Gold, the health and well-being of our community, customers, and employees is our top priority. We recognize the concern and uncertainty caused by the coronavirus, and we’re here to help. That being said,  we’re taking all precautions to help maintain the health of all.

Our FDA registered manufacturing facility has always been held to the highest of medical standards provided by Texas Department of State Health Services. We will continue to maintain this level of safety and cleanliness, while taking additional safeguards during this time. In addition, all non-essential team members will be working from home until further notice.

We understand that these times come with uncertainty, but we encourage all to maintain a positive mindset while still taking all necessary precautions. Our company looks forward to continuing to provide quality products rooted in our mission to help achieve wellness for all.

Give your Immune System a Boost

AdobeStock 305432902 scaled

Sneezing, coughing,….it seems as though everyone around us is sick. No one wants to come down with that irritating cold or potentially life threatening virus. We rely our immune system to help fight off these germs! Did you know there is another system inside our body which helps our immune system combat these outside dangers? It is called the endocannabinoid system, a complex, cell-signaling system that regulates a range of biological functions and aids the body in operating at a necessary level.  This system helps establish a balance among various systems in your body, including the immune system. We’ll provide a little refresher on how the endocannabinoid system works below.

Endocannabinoids are molecules produced inside the body that keep all internal functions running smoothly. Phytocannabinoids (cannabinoids such as CBD that occur naturally inside the cannabis plant) function in the same manner, except they originate outside the body. Their presence ultimately promotes homeostasis, which is essential for health and survival. When consumed, these phytocannabinoids bind to (CB1 and CB2) receptors throughout the body, allowing the endocannabinoid system to regulate processes such as communication between cells, inflammation, immune system responses, chronic pain, stress, etc…  They are then broken down by enzymes after carrying out their intended task. This prevents them from “going too far” and disrupting the balance in the opposite direction. When working at an optimal level, it is quite amazing what the body is capable of!

The immune system heavily relies on a properly functioning endocannabinoid system. CB1 and CB2 receptors are present in immune cells, therefore endocannabinoids and phytocannabinoids act upon your body’s immune system. Thus, CBD and other cannabinoids help regulate and support a healthy immune system.

Inflammation is your immune system’s response to contamination or injury. It’s a signal for you cells to heal a wound or protect from contagious viruses. Unfortunately, your immune system can malfunction, leading to chronic inflammation which can cause a host degenerative diseases such as arthritis & autoimmune diseases. Research suggests CBD has the ability to regulate chronic inflammation, while still supporting healthy acute inflammation in fighting off foreign invaders.

Moreover, CBD and CBG are thought to carry anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties. Studies indicate CBG may be extremely effective in fighting against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, one of the most prevalent hospital superbugs.

Although nothing is a surefire defense against outside germs, CBD’s ability to help regulate the immune system cannot be understated. A balanced endocannabinoid system allows all body functions to operate at an optimal level, including those functions that fight against viruses or diseases.

Benefits of Melatonin in our CBD Nano-Gels

benefits of melatonin

Ah, sleep!  Those nerve-signaling chemicals called neurotransmitters that aid in “switching off” the body, are linked to perhaps one of the most necessary fundamental activities to promote one’s brain health and well-being…and that means sleep.  I think of nothing that sounds better after a long day of work or travel. Falling asleep as soon as your head hits the pillow, sleeping a solid 7-8 hours through the night, and waking up refreshed. If only it were that easy for most of us…we’ve all been there before, restlessly tossing and turning in bed, mind racing and unable to fall asleep.  The more you try to turn your brain off, the harder it becomes to get your necessary rest. However, you’re certainly not alone if you suffer from sleep issues. According to the American Sleep Association, a staggering 50-70 million US adults have a sleeping disorder with roughly one out of three reporting issues with insomnia. The negative consequences associated with sleep deprivation extend far beyond fatigue and lack of sharpness the following day, they can also be extremely detrimental to your long-term quality of life. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notes that insufficient sleep statistically increases rates of depression, obesity, asthma, diabetes, heart disease, etc…

Fortunately, there are ways to help combat these problems. While not a sedative, CBD by itself is thought to have anti-anxiety and antidepressant qualities, making it easier for us ‘normal’ folk to relax before bed.  In addition to CBD, melatonin also promotes sleep, but works in a different way to do so. Berkeley Gold’s Broad Spectrum CBD Nano-Gels with Melatonin pack a powerful one-two punch to tackle all various forms of sleep related issues. While many of us are familiar with melatonin, and possibly have experience with this supplement, it’s important to expand on what it is and why we insist on combining it with Berkeley Gold CBD to promote a solid night’s sleep.

Melatonin is a hormone naturally produced by the pineal gland, a pea-sized gland located just above the middle of your brain. It helps control your internal clock, letting your body know when it’s time to sleep and awaken. The body will naturally produce more melatonin at night, with greater amounts produced as our environment gets darker. Unfortunately, our everyday lifestyles, affectionately referred to as ‘modern life’ can disrupt melatonin production. Late nights at the office, too much blue light screen time on your smart phone, and even jet lag can cause disruptions in melatonin production. As a result, many people supplement with melatonin to help with decreased natural levels. The Sleep Foundation recommends 1mg as an effective dosage. Research also suggests that melatonin carries powerful antioxidant properties and can protect cardiovascular health.

While users consistently rave about their sleep improvements from our CBD standalone, adding melatonin to our Nano-Gels was icing on the cake. Each Berkeley Gold Nano-Gel comes loaded with 25mg of CBD along with other phytocannabinoids and 1mg of melatonin to boost efficiency and absorption. The combination of CBD and melatonin is showing to be an effective, natural way to boost melatonin levels and encourage sleep for even the most restless individuals.

CBD In Professional Sports

1000MG Broad Spectrum Drops 1000MG Broad Spectrum Drops 1000MG Broad Spectrum Drops Lemon

Sports! Many of us participated in sports, of varying degrees, as youngsters. This may come as a surprise, but growing up in Texas as a boy, it’s nearly a requirement to play football. We’d put the helmet and pads on like we were pros and try to emulate many of yesteryear’s greats on the gridiron. While football is still one of the most popular extracurriculars, it’s hard to deny the popularity of global sports in golf, basketball and Mixed Martial Arts, among others.

When it comes to athletics, we all recognize that injuries are ultimately inevitable. For professional athletes, whether in-season, off-season, or post-career, dealing with residual aches and pains is commonplace and becomes second nature. Most professional athletes will admit that they will take any measure to stay on the field; availability is their number one priority. As a result, for some current and former athletes, turning to addictive opioid painkillers and other unhealthy substances has not been uncommon. The number of present and former athletes who have become addicted to these substances is equal parts staggering and heartbreaking. Fortunately, as the science and benefits of CBD become more understood, many of them are turning natural cannabinoids due to the numerous therapeutic benefits (many of the CBD benefits can be found in previous Field of Gold blog posts). Professional sports associations, both domestically and internationally, have addressed the topic of allowing their athletes to reap the benefits of CBD and are opening the door to this alternative form of healing.

In 2018, the World Anti-Doping Agency eliminated CBD from its Prohibited List, permitting its use by Olympic athletes and PGA Tour players. Immediately, numerous professional golfers began using CBD. Two-time Masters Tournament winner and CBD advocate Bubba Watson tells TheStreet, “The inflammation in my body, waking up with better sleep…For me, it was all about sleep and trying to get the body right.” In addition, professional mixed martial artists are also turning to CBD to help with relief. Longtime UFC fighter Nate Diaz claims, “It helps with the healing and inflammation process. So it’s best to use it before and after the fights and the training because it improves your life.” Professional tennis also allows for CBD use, with U.S. pro and winner of 12 ATP titles, John Isner signing an endorsement deal with a CBD company in 2019.

The NHL has a very progressive stance, not including CBD and other cannabinoids on its list of banned substances. Last month, Major League Baseball removed CBD and other natural cannabinoids from its Drugs of Abuse List. Many praised this decision due to the increasing use of opioids among players. Speaking on this decision, former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski mentions, “With the MLB lifting its ban, it’s just a fantastic start, and it would be wonderful to see like NFL and other major sports organizations to start following the lead of the MLB and lifting up that ban.” As we stand, the NFL still prohibits the use of CBD, but they are looking into possible changes in the near future. Hall of Famer and 2x Super Bowl Champion, Terrell Davis tells Bleacher Report, “I believe CBD would have extended by career…because any time you can help your body heal, you can take out the swelling, the inflammation and you can do it in a way that’s natural. I feel like absolutely it would have assisted in that.” Coincidentally, 71% of retired NFL players admitted to abusing painkillers during their playing careers. Moreover, the rate of opioid addiction among former players is 3x higher than the general public. The NFL needs to take note of the natural healing properties associated with CBD and allow its use among current players. Similar to the NFL, the NBA does not allow the use of CBD. Paul Pierce and Al Harrington are a growing list of former players who have endorsed its use.

As good fortune for our respected athletes, momentum is gaining in proponents of removing CBD from the banned substances list. Athletes are recognizing the therapeutic benefits and are using their platform to advocate changes in their leagues. The future of CBD use in professional sports looking promising. Although leagues such as the NBA and NFL have outdated stances, the support for change is evident.

Benefits of Curcumin in Our CBD Nano-Gels

2500MG CBD Isolate Drops Orange

At Berkeley Gold, each compound found in our products serves a specific purpose. Whether it’s added to increase your body’s ability to absorb CBD or just to serve as an additional health benefit, we stick to only the purest of ingredients. Our highly effective Broad Spectrum Nano-Gels come in two versions; With melatonin added to one version to complement the CBD and another version containing a curcumin boost. Today’s article will focus on the features and benefits of curcumin.

Let’s start from the beginning and explain where curcumin comes from. Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric, a plant very similar to ginger that thrives in tropical conditions and can grow upwards of three feet tall.  Tumeric is native to South Asia and has been used medicinally in Indian culture for over 4,500 years. The Indian system of medicine uses it to treat breathing issues, fight wound infections, and combat fatigue. Today, curcumin has been shown to carry a multitude of additional health benefits. We’ll dive into their specifics below!

Research suggests that curcumin carries natural anti-inflammatory properties. According to studies, curcumin at the right dosage may be more effective than ibuprofen or aspirin in preventing inflammation. In fact, it specifically blocks NF-kB, a molecule that moves into cells and activates genes responsible for inflammation and other chronic illnesses. Therefore, curcumin fights against inflammation at the molecular level.

Curcumin is also a natural antioxidant, protecting and ridding your body of free radicals. Free radicals originate inside the human body and externally from exposure to cigarette smoke, air pollution, fried foods, etc… They cause damage to cells, proteins, and DNA which can eventually lead to cancer and other  health problems.  Curcumin’s antioxidant properties and biological structure allow it to neutralize free radicals, therefore preventing their negative impact.  In addition, curcumin can also activate your body’s own antioxidant enzymes.

It is believed that curcumin may help lower the risk of heart disease, the number one cause of death worldwide. Curcumin improves the function of the endothelium, which is the tissue that forms the lining in the blood vessels and heart. Dysfunction of the endothelium causes problems with blood pressure regulation, blood clotting, etc…Moreover, curcumin’s anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties also help lower the risk of heart disease. In a study published in the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health, 121 people who were undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery were given either a placebo or 4 grams of curcumin a few days before or after the surgery. Those given curcumin had a 65% decreased risk of having a heart attack at the hospital in that given time frame.

Finally, curcumin can also boost levels of the brain hormone BDNF. An increase BDNF enhances growth of new neurons and assists in proper brain function. Conversely, low levels of BDNF have been linked to several brain disorders such as depression and Alzheimer’s disease. Thus, curcumin can protect against degenerative processes in the brain.

The Berkeley Gold Nano-Gels come packed with 25mg of CBD and 10g of curcumin per capsule to maximize efficiency and absorption. CBD combined with curcumin is a natural one-two punch against various health conditions. The quality of our CBD in conjunction with the abundant benefits of curcumin helps further the mission in helping people live healthier lives.

Why We Use MCT In Our Tinctures

mct in tinctures

At Berkeley Gold, we list “MCT ” as an ingredient on the back of our tincture line. Simply put, MCT, or medium-chain triglycerides act as a carrier, allowing for a greater concentration of the cannabinoids from our tinctures to be absorbed into your bloodstream! We’ll dive into exactly what this term means and why we insist on using it in all our tinctures.  As the name suggests, MCT is considered  a dietary supplement made from fatty acids, which are naturally found in coconut oil.  Fats found in MCTs differ molecularly from other well-known fats, which can cause a range of health issues when consumed in excess. The essential fatty acids found in MCT help boost energy production, assist in proper brain function, and promote healthy immune and digestive systems.

Unlike other fats you digest, medium-chain triglycerides are directly absorbed and then sent to the liver. There, they are often turned into ketones and used as an energy source. Ketones are produced when the liver breaks down fat and used by the brain as an alternative energy source instead of glucose and sugar. If you are following a ketogenic diet or “keto diet” in which the body burns fat opposed to carbohydrates for fuel, MCT can help your body stay in the fat-burning state known as ketosis. People following these low carbohydrate diets will often supplement with MCT to ensure they are getting enough healthy fats to achieve their desired goals.  Furthermore, medium-chain triglycerides’ unique absorption make them more likely to be used as energy, opposed to being stored as body fat like traditional fats.

MCTs have been around since the 1950s, initially formulated as alternative food sources for patients unable to digest normal fats and oils. By the 1980s, they began to be studied and marketed for sports applications as well. Marathon runners and other endurance athletes started supplementing with medium-chain triglycerides to boost energy and endurance, in an effort to avoid the insulin spikes and other health problems associated with  high carbohydrate diets. Let’s discuss a few major benefits of MCTs below in more detail…

The presence of MCT is crucial for a healthy, properly functioning brain.  Medium-chain triglycerides turn into ketones, allowing your brain to utilize the energy and mental clarity to operate at a necessary level. Alzheimer’s patients are often given a prescription dietary supplement known as Axona, which contains medium-chain triglycerides. In addition, MCTs also have natural anti-bacterial, anti-viral, & anti-fungal qualities which can promote a healthy immune system. These same anti-bacterial properties help clean and even balance bacteria in your stomach, fostering a healthier digestive system.  Furthermore, MCTs ability to improve digestion also helps the body properly balance hormone production.

We use only organically sourced, high quality medium-chain triglycerides in our tinctures. Their presence allows for an increase in bioavailability, which means you are putting your body in a greater position to achieve your desired effect. Our mission to get the most out of your CBD experience is unwavering and we believe medium-chain triglycerides found in our tinctures help achieve just that. What other daily products do you consume that contain MCTs? Comment below!
