While looking at the Berkeley Gold product line, you’ve probably noticed the labels “Broad Spectrum” and “Isolate”. Although the terms may be confusing, we make it our priority to educate our consumers. We want you to have the knowledge to choose the most appropriate type and/or delivery method of CBD available to fit your needs! In a nutshell, broad spectrum and isolate are used to define which type of CBD is in the product, although each is different.
Scientifically speaking, CBD isolate is the purest form of the compound. The other cannabinoids have been removed and an isolated CBD molecule is left. If you enjoy the benefits of straight CBD , this option will probably fit your needs. While looking at isolate and any other form of CBD , it’s especially important to take note of the purity. Here at Berkeley Gold, transparency is in full effect with Certificate of Analysis reports being readily available from every batch of product produced, being that our commitment to quality is second to none. In addition, we indicate the type of CBD used on each product. Whether it’s isolate or broad spectrum, you will know what’s in your purchase!
The cannabis plant contains a multitude of additional cannabinoids besides just CBD. Broad Spectrum has those other 100+ active phytochemicals (CBG, CBN, CBC, terpenes, healthy fatty acids, phytonutrients, etc…..) but has 0% THC. The term “entourage effect” is commonly thrown around in the CBD space. This phrase refers to the synergetic interaction among the cannabinoids, terpenes, & other healthy fatty acids. In other words, the combination creates a unique mental or physical impact not afforded when only one compound is used alone. Let’s use an example of a football team, with the quarterback being CBD. By himself, the quarterback plays arguably the most important role on the team, but he cannot win ballgames alone. He needs the help of his wide receivers, offensive line, defense, special teams, etc….. The other players represent the cannabinoids and additional compounds, playing vital roles on the team by causing their own unique effects. We can compare this football example to the entourage effect of having all “teammates” working together.
We should note that no type of CBD is better or worse than the other. It’s a matter of individual circumstances and finding out what works best for you.
